Without boats, the island of Tagubanhan in Ajuy, Iloilo has no source of livelihood and mobility. A fishing island village forty five minutes from the coast of Ajuy, it was one of the most devastated areas in Iloilo when Yolanda hit in November 2013 killing 8 people and damaging the homes of over 1,000 residents. Fly Ace Corporation, one of the leading food and beverage consumer goods companies in the country, donated twenty five boats to Barangay Tagubanhan in partnership with Gawad Kalinga Balangay Project. Some of the best local Ilonggo seafood delicacy such as pinakas, tabagak, and uga come from Tagubanhan. The turnover ceremony was attended by Fly Ace Corporation Associate PR and Digital Media Marketing Manager MJ Cordova, Gawad Kalinga Iloilo Provincial Head Rose Cacho, Gawad Kalinga Executive Director Jose Luis Oquinena, Fly Ace Corporation AVP Human Resources Dorothy Sobrevega, Tagubanhan Barangay Captain Girly Amante, Ajuy Vice Mayor Jose Rojas IV, and Ajuy Iloilo Mayor Juancho Alvarez.
