A Two Day Affair with Concha Y Toro

The World’s Most Powerful Wine Brand, Concha Y Toro, held a two-day affair that every wine enthusiast would have loved to be in.

Concha Y Toro hosted an intimate wine pairing dinner in Village Tavern where Casillero del Diablo was paired with authentic Mexican and Spanish dishes. Prepared in Texas-style or what Bistro Corporate Chef Josh Boutwood would refer to as “Tex-Mex”, the pairing is nothing over-bearing, rather, a simple complementing gustatory experience of favorites.

The dinner started with Chicken Tinga Empanaditas, slow cooked chicken stuffed in warm Mexican pockets, served with Casillero del Diablo Sauvignon Blanc. Hints of pears, lime, green apples and some tropical touches make this an elegant wine from the coastal areas of the Central Valley, Chile. Add a squeeze of lemon and yogurt to this dish for a burst of fresh tanginess in the palate.

Mescal Smoked Chicken is boneless leg quarter, spiced and grilled, with green rice, poblano crema and house salad was served for mains. This dish was paired with Casillero del Diablo Merlot which features cherries accompanied by licorice with subtle touches of vanilla and toffee, heightening the flavorful tex-mex spices. Guests had the option to choose Spiced Rubbed US Prime Flank Steak which was paired with Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon. The beef is ideal with the richness of cherries and plums of this wine which is aged in French and American oak barrels, adding hints of toast and coffee notes.

For dessert, fried tacos, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate make for Sopaipillas was nicely paired with Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing the wine’s versatility.

Available in more than 135 countries and its wide range, Casillero del Diablo has attracted millions of wine lovers where every 1.3 seconds, a bottle of CDD is sold someplace in the world. The quality of each Casillero del Diablo creation enables consumers to discover the aromas, flavors, and best expression of Chile’s most select wine regions. With a history that spans more than 4 decades, the Casillero del Diablo range is Chile’s largest premium brand and is rated one of the best value wine brands in the world.

Casillero del Diablo is only one of the wine brands under Concha Y Toro. At the 14th Grand Wine Experience held in the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel, Concha Y Toro showcased its complete portfolio including Carmin de Peumo, Amelia, Don Melchor, Marques, Trio, Sunrise, and Frontera. The Grand Wine Experience with its latest edition, Angel’s Share, was every wine lover’s dream as one can have unlimited sips of over 500 wines and spirits from 23 countries housed in the venue. There was a sumptuous spread including different kinds of cheese, bread and cold meats, ribs, ravioli, sushi and sashimi, and ostentatious desserts.

Welcoming guests in both events were VCT Group of Wineries South East Asia Regional Manager Mario Aguado and Fly Ace Corporation President Jun Cochanco.

Sustained investments in vineyards and production capacity are a central pillar in the business strategy of the company, enabling it to reach and maintain the quality needed to successfully compete in the category of premium wines and fulfill its commitment to ensure that its brands act as an example of quality. This constant search for new terroirs has led the winery to plant and develop 9,133 hectares of vineyards in 9 valleys of Chile, which give Concha y Toro access to a rich diversity of soils and varieties, and demonstrate the company’s commitment with the production of quality wines and permanent innovation, as well as Chile’s potential to produce world-class wines.

Additionally, the company owns 1,154 hectares of vineyards in Argentina and 463 in the United States, accounting for a total of 10,750 hectares, making Concha y Toro the second largest vineyard-owning group worldwide. Concha Y Toro has penetrated the worldwide market being available in 153 countries. It is the 4th largest winery in the world in terms of vineyard plantings, the 5th largest exporter and the 9th largest producer of wine.
